EDITORIAL STANDARDS · UPDATED OCTOBER 2026
How the Marrow list is made.
A transparent ranking is more useful than a mysterious one. Here is what the Fall 2026 list represents—and what it does not.
Selection
The national list is an independent editorial survey informed by official restaurant information, recent reputable dining coverage, regional significance, and Marrow’s evaluation framework. Inclusion and placement cannot be purchased.
Scoring framework
Beef and fire carry the greatest weight, followed by service, room, beverage depth, and value. Historical importance and a restaurant’s relevance to its city help distinguish otherwise comparable candidates.
Research and sourcing
Factual claims are checked against official restaurant websites, menus, press rooms, and direct contact information. Sources are linked on researched profiles. Customer reviews are not copied, combined, or rewritten as Marrow’s voice.
First-hand claims
Marrow does not label a profile as a first-person visit unless the contributor and visit are documented. Research-based profiles are clearly identified as editorial analysis.
Photography
Restaurant-specific photographs are used only when supplied through an official press or media source or otherwise licensed for publication. A shared editorial image may appear when no verified media asset is available.
Updates and corrections
Operational details are checked periodically, but restaurants change quickly. Each researched page displays its fact-check date. Corrections may be sent to hello@beststeakhouseamerica.com.
Editorial independence
Restaurants cannot pay for ranking position. If Marrow later introduces sponsorships or affiliate relationships, those relationships will be disclosed on the affected page and kept separate from editorial scoring.
